VISAKHAPATNAM : Sanjeev Guptha, director of Hindi movie ‘Q’ has been selected for the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial National Award this year. The award is being presented to the best debutant director for the past 17 years.
Gollapudi Srinivas, son of noted actor and writer Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, drowned in the Bay of Bengal while directing his first movie. Maruthi Rao instituted the award in the name of his son. Maruthi Rao said that every year the award is announced on Srinivasa Rao’s Jayanthi on March 17 and would be presented on his Vardhanti on August 12. The awardee would be presented with `1.5 lakh cash and a memento, he added.
