CRDA lands Setback to AP Government

In a big embarrassment to the TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the Hyderabad High Court has directed the government to facilitate the return of ‘consent letters’ of all the farmers in the CRDA who want to take back their lands from land pooling.

The court strictures were a major disappointment to the AP Government which wanted to launch the construction activity and hand over the lands to the Singapore planners and builders within a month.

Dismissing batch of petitions by 35 farmers of CRDA region, the court directed the CRDA commissioner Srikant to help farmers who wanted to take back their lands.

The government had collected 33,000 acres out of the 47,000 land available in CRDA for the capital. To convince the farmers to give up lands, the government had cleared their farm loans in one lot and also offered them attractive package of urban land, cash compensation, insurance and also annuity payments for loss of productive land for about ten years.
