Cyberabad cops bust SIM swap fraud, six held

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cybercrime Police busted a six-member inter-State SIM swap fraudster gang on charges of cheating a businessman and fraudulently withdrawing money from his bank accounts.

The arrested persons were identified as Eshwar Pavan (27) from Visakhapatnam, Madan Mohan Reddy (45) from Anantapur, Shaik (28) from Vijayawada, Rajendra (38) from Peleru, Babji Babu (30) from Tanuku and Sandeep Verma (34) from Rajahmundry.

Eshwar Pavan claiming to be the bank executive collected the bank details of a businessman and with the help of his associates made duplicate SIM card and made transactions.

The Cyberabad Police advised citizens to personally use the debit or credit cards and not to handover them to anyone for any transaction. “Card details such as PIN number, CVV and the One Time Password should not be shared with anyone. Keep the identity details confidentially,” police said.

Check the alert messages from banks periodically on the registered mobile number and report any issue in case of not receiving messages, officials said.
