COVID-19 cases on steady rise in AP

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh carried out Covid-19 tests on 7,69,319 samples and out of them 10,884 tuned out to be positive to the virus.

The state health department in its bulletin released at 10 am on Thursday reported that 477 new cases have been found out of 19,085 samples tested in the last 24 hours. Sixty-nine new cases from other states and also seven new cases from other countries have also been reported. With this, the total number of new cases reported in the state is 553.

Seven Covid-19 patients two each from Kurnool, Krishna and Guntur and one from East Godavari, lost their lives to the disease taking the death toll to 136.

Of total number of 10,884 cases, AP alone contributes 8,783 cases while 1,730 cases have been reported from other states and 372 from other countries. Out of total cases, 5,760 are active while 4,988 were discharged from hospitals.

Anantapur reported 52 new cases while Chittoor, 42, East Godavari, 64, Guntur, 67, Kadapa, 22, Krishna, 47, Kurnool, 72, Nellore, 29, Prakasam, 18, Srikakulam, one, Visakhapatnam, 40, Vizianagaram, five and West Godavari,18 cases in the last 24 hours.

In SPSR Nellore district, 15 new cases have been reported, taking overall tally to 638. Among new cases, nine are from Nellore city, and one each from Jaladanki, Bogole, Indukurpeta, Sullurpeta and Kavali.

A patient from Guntur district is also one among new cases. In Nellore city, cases have been reported from Moolapeta, Manumasiddhi Nagar, Bujabujanellore, Kotamitta, Santhapeta, NTR Nagar and Vedayapalem.

Kadapa district reported 24 new cases taking total number of cases to 657. Out of new cases, nine are from Proddutur, four from Simhadripuram, three from Galiveedu, two from Pulivendula and one each from Yerraguntla, Kadapa, Chennur.

Three cases have been reported from foreign returnees.  A Covid-19 patient succumbed to the virus taking the death toll to 11.

In East Godavari, 77 new cases were reported, taking the overall tally to 1,042. Among new cases, 28 from Kakinada, five from Vakalapudi, APSP, four from Chelluru, 20 from Rajahmundry, five from Namavaram and Kateru, six from Divili, Peddapuram, one from Ramachandrapuram, three from Penikeru, one each from Rajanagaram, Kamaraju Lanka, Nadakuduru and Yeleswaram.

In Rajahmundry, a minor fire mishap took place when a sanitiser bottle secured in the front pouch of a bike caught fire accidentally making people run for safety at busy Devi Chowk centre. As the people are using sanitiser frequently to clean their hands, especially while moving out, for safety from the Covid-19 virus and the sanitiser is highly inflammable, it caught fire accidentally. The minor fire was put out.

Kurnool district reported 79 new cases taking the overall tally to 1,555. Among new cases, Kurnool municipality alone reported 40 cases and Adoni municipality 15 cases. Two Covid-19 patients died.
