Sumanth gets nostalgic as ‘Godavari’ completes 14 years of release

Released in 2006, Sekhar Kammula’s romantic-drama “Godavari” came as a breath of fresh air in Telugu cinema which was ruled by actioners and commercial potboilers. The film tells the story of idealistic guy Ram, independent girl Seetha and the fascinating river cruise from Rajahmundry to Bhadrachalam that brings the duo together. Considered to be an inspiration of Bapu’s 1973 film ‘Andala Ramudu’, all songs in the KM Radha Krishnan musical went on to become chartbusters. Vijay C Kumar’s cinematography was also highly praised.
As of today (May 19), Godavari completes 14 years of release at the box-office and taking to social media, Sumanth went nostalgic on the film and his lead role which is still considered as his best performance till date by many.

In the words of SS Rajamouli, the film gives you the great pleasure of dangling your feet in the flowing waters of Godavari. Starring Kamalinee Mukherjee as the leading lady, the romantic drama featured Neetu Chandra and Kamal Kamaraju in supporting roles.
On the work front, Sumanth is looking forward to the release of his upcoming film ‘Kapatadhaari’, a neo-noir thriller directed by Pradeep Krishnamoorthy. Sekhar Kammula is also occupied with ‘Love Story’ starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. The shooting of the film is on the verge of completion.
