Two more coronavirus positive cases in Andhra Pradesh, takes tally to 5

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh registered two more coronavirus positive cases on Saturday, taking the tally to 5.
According to the health department officials, patient number four (22-year-old) from East Godavari travelled from London to Hyderabad on March 18 and then to Rajahmundry on the same day. On the other hand, patient 5 from Krishna district, aged 24, arrived in New Delhi on March 15 from Paris. He had then travelled to Hyderabad and subsequently to Vijayawada on March 17. He was admitted to the isolation ward on March 20 and tested positive on Saturday
The health officials are busy tracing the contacts of patient 3, a 65-year-old male from Visakhapatnam. The contact tracing was completed for the 24-year-old patient from Prakasam district and the containment area was also completely sanitised. Similar was the case of the 27-year-old male patient from Nellore with concluded contact tracing and sanitisation of the containment area.

A total of 11,640 passengers and crew have been so far screened at Vizag International airport and sea ports, including Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam ports.

A health official informed that the state is dealing with the foreign returnees entering from other states in a comprehensive manner. “The Union government is sending the list of foreign returnees into the state on a daily basis. Andhra Pradesh has augmented this list with house to house survey using the network of village and ward volunteers,” said a health official.
