Bangarraju: Sequel to Soggade Chinni Nayana to go on floors in June?

A sequel to Akkineni Nagarjuna-starrer supernatural drama Soggade Chinni Nayana is likely to go on floors in June. Soggade Chinni Nayana, also featuring Ramya Krishnan and Lavanya Tripathi was one of the most commercially successful and critically-acclaimed films of 2016.
Directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, the film was set in the small town of Sivapuram, near Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, where a benevolent and flirtatious zamindar has been murdered by his relatives for jewellery from a 1,000-year-old temple to Shiva. With Yama Dharmaraja’s command, he returns to the earth and uncovers the bitter truth behind his own death while fixing things between his son Ramu and his daughter-in-law.
Produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna under Annapurna Studios, Soggade Chinni Nayana had earned Rs 50 crore share worldwide. A source close to the project said the sequel is currently in the scripting stage. Sources also added that the expectations are high on Bangarraju, so the team wants to give their best shot as we are not in a hurry to make it. Ramya Krishnan will be returning for the sequel, which also features Akkineni Naga Chaitanya in a pivotal role.
