All India Inter-University Ball Badminton: Hosts Mangalore University enters semis

MOODBIDRI: Hosts Mangalore University has entered the semi-final stage in the ongoing All India Inter-University Ball Badminton tournament for the 8th consecutive time. Joining the hosts on the fourth day of the meet underway on the Vidyagiri campus of Alva’s Education Foundation on Saturday were Andhra University, Vishakapatnam; University of Madras, Chennai and SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
In the quarterfinals, the hosts got past a determined Bharathidasan University, Trichy in a touch three-setter 35-25, 33-35, 35-16. Andhra University got past B S Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai in straight sets 35-16 35-5 in second quarter final. University of Madras in the third quarter-final fixture got the better of Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry, also in a three-setter 35-21, 21-35, 35-26.
In a clash of Tamil Nadu universities, SRM defeated Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai 35-26, 35-22. The semi-final super-league matches got underway on Saturday.
