Konaseema flutters with cockfights

Rajamahendravaram: Punters and organisers geared up to hold cockfights in the district, particularly in Konaseema. The organisers are emboldened to host the cockfights, despite the administration keeping a vigil on blood sport, because of the alleged support being extended by political parties and influential persons.

A large number of arenas have been prepared in the district to hold the cockfights. The organisers have not paid heed to the warning of the police that stringent action would be taken against them.

As many as 30 arenas have already been prepared in the Konaseema area, in upland and Agency areas. At some places, the organisers erected pandals and arranged VIP galleries.
