Tanisha wins gold, silver at Jr Nat Badminton

Panjim: Goa’s sensation Tanisha Crasto emerged with a haul of one gold and silver medal at the Yonex-Sunrise 44th Junior National Badminton Championships 2019 held at Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, on Monday.

Tanisha along with her partner Ishaan Bhatnagar from Chhattisgarh won gold in the under-19 mixed doubles defeating top seeds Navaneeth Bokka and Sahithi Bandi 21-18, 21-13 in a 34 minutes tussle.

Tanisha who was vying for double gold however had to settle for silver in junior girls doubles as she and her partner Aditi Bhatt from Uttarakhand failed to cross the final hurdle.

The top seeds who had won gold in the previous edition in Lucknow were upset by the sixth seeded pairing of Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker from Maharashtra. They lost 14-21, 22-20, 18-21 in a gruelling match which lasted for one hour and 17 minutes. [H]
