3 flights from Delhi cancelled due to protests in capital

At least three IndiGo flights from Delhi to Hyderabad, were cancelled on Thursday owing to ongoing stir against CAA, in Delhi-NCR region.
According to sources, several passengers and airline crew, failed to get to the airport on time because of traffic restrictions in view of the agitations. The disruptions had a cascading effect on outgoing flights, with three services to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi from the city’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), cancelled for the day. These sectors, including some others such as Goa and Rajahmundry, also reported delays owing to the same reason. In all, close to 20 departures of IndiGo, from Delhi, were hit on Thursday.
Meanwhile, advising passengers to keep tabs on the status of their flights, the airline operator, in a statement said it has implemented certain measures “due to the ongoing protests in certain areas of Delhi and NCR, and the restrictions on traffic in Delhi capital, especially from Gurgaon.”
The statement said, “We are monitoring the situation and will take proactive measures if further cancellations are required. All passengers will be proactively informed. However, due to impacted commu-nication lines passengers are requested to check the website…Customers who are affected can be rebooked at no additional cost.” TNN
