Vizag: Boating services to start soon to tap into tourist season

Boating services would soon be resumed at various tourist hotspots in Visakhapatnam by the second week of December. The same was announced by the officials from the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC).

A team of experts from Kakinada Port also inspected the facilities recently and suggested the Tourism Ministry that all boat drivers undergo a certification course. Reports suggest that the APTDC suspended boating services after a boat tragedy in the Godavari, which was disheartening not only for the APTDC but also the visitors.

Referring to this development, an official from the APTDC informed that the tourism department is now planning to start boating operations as soon as the drives finish their training, which might take another 15 to 20 days. He, however, assured that the department will try to resume the boating services soon and will not miss this the tourist season.

He maintained that tourism projects are being planned with the objective of providing livelihood, security, and jobs. He also directed officials to set up tourism guides for every district.
