Rajahmundry: Two people, a driver and a cleaner, died after a container truck carrying cars plunged into the Godavari delta canal in Alamuru mandal of East Godavari district on Monday.
According to circle inspector Manga Devi, the container was carrying cars from Chennai to Odisha and the incident happened after the driver lost control over the vehicle in the early hours of Monday. Special cranes were summoned from ONGC to fish the truck out of the water after normal cranes failed. Both bodies were retrieved only after the truck was pulled out.
