Kids’ safety focus of this walk

Visakhapatnam: A mega relay walk of 555 km from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam was flagged off on Monday to spread awareness on ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ among children. The second edition of the walk is being organised by The Vizag 5 AM Club, and is supported by Rotary Couples, Rotary International, BNI, Young Indians, Round Table Vijayawada and Ladies Circle.
The walk was flagged off by governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan from the Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada. Fifty-five participants will walk to Visakhapatnam via Gudivada, Bhimavaram, Tadepalligudem, Tanuku, Palkol, Dinidi, Amalapuram, Rajahmundry and Tuni.
Over the course of the six-day walk, the walkers will conduct sessions at various schools along the way and interact with students up to the fifth standard. The aim is to reach to as many as 450 schools and 55,000 children in the region and impart education relating to personal safety.
The walkers also plan to raise awareness on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The closing ceremony will be organised in Visakhapatnam city on November 23 and be attended by actress Rakul Preet Singh. Last year, the walk took place along the Visakhapatnam-Amaravati route and covered over 100 schools.
BCCI selection committee chairman MSK Prasad and international skater Priyam Tated will also be a part of the event, said an organiser.
