Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) Registrar Prof S Teki inaugurated the inter-collegiate basketball selection competitions at the campus here on Thursday. As many as 11 teams from its affiliated colleges in twin Godavari districts participated in the competitions.
Selected teams will represent the university in South Interuniversity Basketball tournaments scheduled to be held at Hindustan University in Chennai from December 7 to 11.
Later, the Registrar said that the University was giving top priority for sports and a sports board was created to develop sports. The university students are proving their mettle in state and national level tournaments. Sports Board chairman and also organizing committee chairman Dr K Subba Rao, secretary Dr MVS Murthi and others were present.
