IWCS conducts menstrual hygiene campaign

Inner wheel club of Swarnrekha, Ranchi held an awareness campaign on menstrual hygiene among women in the neighbouring areas of Pundag on Thursday. The women were educated about the proper way of maintaining hygiene during menstruation and sanitary napkins were also distributed. A sanitary pad bank was also created by the organisation where needy women can get them for free. Old clothes, sweaters, woollen blankets and sweets were also distributed. President Devyani Sanyal, Secretary Nina Agarwal, Treasurer Namrata Kumar, IPP Deepa Chauhan, Neeta Narayan, Mala Sinha and others were present on the occasion.

Friendly Cricket Match at SCS

To acknowledge the ability of the specially-abled children, the sports lovers of Surendranath Centenary School organised a friendly cricket match here on Thursday with the children of Deepsikha as a part of Unified Sports to celebrate World Disability Week. The team comprised players from both the schools in which Deepankar Ghosh of Deepshikha was the Captain of Team A and Shail Kumar from the same school led Team B. Each team had 14 players. It was a thrilling experience for the students of SCS to play with the talented children of Deepshikha. At the end the ‘team A’ won the match. Principal Samita Sinha said that the purpose of this match was only to sensitize the children in the society towards these special-abled children and the collaborative efforts needed from all the segments of the society in the development of the community.

SBPS Student bags silver medal

Sakhi Bangar of grade XI added another feather to the cap of SBPS by winning the silver medal in the CBSE National Taekwondo Championship held at St. Xavier’s High School, Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh. The School Head Personnel and Admin Pradip Varma congratulated Sakhi for her commendable achievement. Principal Paramjit Kaur said, “Sakhi, with her achievements has not only made the school but the entire state proud.” She added, “Sports is a means to build a strong character and confidence.”

Man dies in road accident

One person was killed and another critically injured after a speeding trailer hit their motorcycle early Thursday near Remba more in Giridih. The two persons were going from Manikbadh village to Jamua petrol pump to avoid the vehicle checking when the accident took place around 8 am. The deceased was identified as Babloo Yadav and his uncle Thakur Yadav, 38, was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Jamua.

SER runs special trains

South Eastern Railway (SER) run the special train consisting of two AC-2 Tier, four AC-3 Tier, four Sleeper Class and three General Second Class Coaches will have stoppages at Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh Road, Bolangir, Titlagarh, Kesinga, Muniguda, Rayagada, Parvatipuram, Bobbili, Vizianagaram, Kottavalasa, Duvvada, Tuni, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Tadepalligudem, Eluru, Vijayawada, Ongole, Nellore, Gudur, Sullurupeta, Perambur, Katpadi and Jolarpettai stations en route. The booking for tickets will be available from all Computerised Reservation Centers and Internet with immediate effect.
