Indian Railways and the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) are running special services for the convenience of passengers during Dasara festival.
The railways is operating special trains between MGR Chennai Central- Ahmedabad, Chennai Central-Santragachi, Puducherry-Santragachi, MGR Chennai Central-Guwahati, Secunderabad-Raxaul, Tirupati and many other destinations.
The special trains will run till November 30 to clear the rush during Dasara and Diwali festivals. Some special trains will operate up to December-end, said a railway officer.
Bus services
The APSRTC is running about 4,000 special buses in addition to the regular services to various destinations. Advanced reservation facility has been provided in all special buses and almost tickets are booked.
RTC is running buses to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Tirupati and other cities during the festival season.
“In addition to 2,000 regular buses, we are operating 4,000 special services during Dasara festival. APSRTC is running buses to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and other places. The demand for Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai is high, where IT employees from AP are working”, said RTC Executive Director (ED-Operations) K.V.R.K. Prasad.
Festival rush has already started due to vacations to schools and colleges, and heavy rush will be witnessed on October 4 and 5 and after Dasara, the ED said.
“We deployed our officers to different depots located in the neighbouring States to monitor the situation. APSRTC is ready to operate more services, depending on the rush”, Mr. Prasad said.
Meanwhile, heavy rush was seen at Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Bhimavaram, Kakinada and other bus and railway stations since a few days. The corporation deployed officers to monitor the situation at all major bus stations, the ED said.
