Woman Maoist hurt in crossfire, arrested

Rajahmundry: East Godavari police have arrested a woman Maoist in Buradakota forest area on Saturday. She was reportedly injured in the encounter, which took place in Madigimullu GK Veedhi area in Visakhapatnam on September 22.
Following the episode, police have launched a combing operation to nab the ultras who had fled from the site on the day. It was during the operation that the search party found her. The woman has been identified as Sake Kalavati alias Bhavani (45).
After providing her first aid, she was shifted to Rajahmundry government hospital.
Speaking to STOI, East Godavari SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi said Kalavati is from Anathapur district and ACM of Pedabayalu committee. She is the wife of a Maoist leader Jagan.
He revealed that Kalavati sustained injuries to her calf muscle in the crossfire.
When the search party found her, her leg had swollen up, he said, adding that she has been admitted to the hospital and will be handed over to the Visakhapatnam police soon where several cases are pending against her.
