Search teams retrieved one more body from Godavari river on Saturday, taking the toll in the boat accident to 36. The decomposed body was traced at Kachluru in East Godavari and search is on for the missing 15 persons.
According to the police, the body of a four-year-old girl was found in the river. Police suspect that the victim belonged to a family, who travelled on Royal Vasista boat, which capsized on September 15. The NDRF, Police, SDRF and the Fire personnel and the expert swimmers are searching for the missing persons from Kachluru to the downstream in Konaseema region in Godavari.
Relatives of the victims, who are still missing, staged a protest the Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Saturday, demanding that the government intensify the search operations for the missing tourists.
“We are waiting for the last six days at the GGH, but there is no progress. We are not getting any information. The government is taking the mishap lightly,” a woman alleged.
TDP leaders visit
A delegation of Telugu Desam Party met the victims at the hospital and inquired about the missing persons. Former ministers Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA G. Buchaiah Chowdary were among those who visited the hospital.
