No negative marking in RCET, notification to be released today

Visakhapatnam: Andhra University (AU) will conduct the ‘Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test’ (APRCET) for the second consecutive year on behalf of the state government, said AU vice-chancellor Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Prof Reddy said that the notification for the examination will be issued on September 11. “The online registration process will commence on September 16. The last date for submission of applications without a late fee is October 10 and with a late fee is October 16.”
“The examinations will be conducted from November 8 to November 12 in 10 cities, including Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Anantapur, Kurnool, Kadapa, Tirupati and Hyderabad,” he added.
APRCET convenor Prof K Srinivasa Rao said that the qualifying mark for open category is 50% while the qualifying mark for SC,ST,BC and PWD categories is 45%.
“There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers in this year’s test. The test will be conducted in 68 subjects. After AU conducts the written test for 180 marks, the departmental research committee of the concerned university will conduct an interview for 20 marks. The final ranks or marks will be awarded after clubbing the marks obtained in the written test and the interview,” Rao said.
In 2018, the government had decided to do away with university-level research entrance tests. Prior to this, every university would conduct its own entrance test.
