Rajamahendravaram: The Government has decided to arrange a Water Grid Project (WGP) to supply protected drinking water to East and West Godavari districts and the officials are preparing estimations to the tune of Rs 8,500 crore.
Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subash Chandrabose, addressing a press conference at Roads and Buildings Guest house here on Tuesday, he said the proposal was aimed to combat drinking water problem both in upland and delta areas in the two districts.
As per the directions of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the officials designed the project, he said. The project was planned as drinking water in the two districts were polluted due to rampant aqua cultivation.
Deputy Chief Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, East and West Godavari District Collectors D Muralidhar Reddy and R Mutyala Raju, Commissioner Sumit Kumar, MP M Bharat Ram and others were present.
