Rajamahendravaram: TDP leaders staged a dharna at Devi Chowk centre here on Friday against the sand policy of the State government and later submitted a memorandum to the urban Tashildar.
Participating in the protest programme, MLA Adireddy Bhavani said that thousands of construction workers were starving as construction works came to standstill due to the non-availability of sand. There is an acute sand scarcity in the district, she lamented.
Former MLC Adireddy Appa Rao said Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy shattered the dreams of the people with his ‘anti people’ policies. Common people were not getting sand and facing many problems and the government lost control on the supply of sand.
The party senior leader Ganni Krishna said the state government was not functioning up to the satisfaction of the people. The TDP government was able to supply sand to the people without any scarcity, he recalled.
Meanwhile, rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary submitted a memorandum to the urban Tahsildar seeking proper supply of sand and maintenance of sand ramps properly. The party leaders V Rambabu, VS Rao, A Vasu, J Murali Krishna, M Rambabu and others were present on the occasion.
