Two families ruled north Andhra roost

Visakhapatnam: Two political families of northern Andhra won as many as eight seats (including assembly and Lok Sabha) among themselves. While former Union minister Kinjarapu Errannaidu’s family won three seats in Srikakulam and Rajahmundry, former state minister and YSRC senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana’s family and followers won five seats in Vizianagaram.
While Errannaidu’s brother minister Acchennaidu won the TDP Tekkali assembly segment, on the other hand, his son Rammohan Naidu and daughter Bhavani won the Srikakulam Lok Sabha seat and the Rajahmundry assembly segment respectively. Acchennaidu managed to retain the Tekkali seat in a keen contest with a majority of more than 8,000 votes. He was behind in a few rounds, but gained strength from round number 14. Rammohan’s father-in-law Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, however, lost from Pendurthi.
Botsa Satyanarayana’s family and followers dominated Vizianagaram for YSRC, winning four of nine assembly seats in the region and the Vizianagaram Lok Sabha seat. While Botsa won from Cheepurupalli, his brother Appala Narasiah won from Gajapathinagaram. Badukonda Appala Naidu, husband to Botsa’s niece, won from Nellimarla. One of Botsa’s ardent followers Kadubandi Srinivasa Rao emerged as a giant killer and defeated Kolla Lalitha Kumari of TDP in S Kota constituency. Another close aide Bellana Chandra Sekhar gave a shock to Vizianagar’s royal scion Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
