Rajahmundry: Municipal officials hailed over collection of property taxes

 At a meeting with the staff, the additional municipal commissioner reviewed the collection of property tax, vacant land tax and other taxes with the revenue officers, revenue inspectors and bill collectors and instructed them to pay more attention on tax collections and ensure that the mounting tax dues were collected from the property owners.

Rajahmundry: Additional municipal commissioner N.V.V. Satyanarayana on Saturday instructed revenue officers to collect details of Aadhaar card and mobile phone number from property owners when they are served demand notices for payment of property and other taxes.

At a meeting with the staff, the additional municipal commissioner reviewed the collection of property tax, vacant land tax and other taxes with the revenue officers, revenue inspectors and bill collectors and instructed them to pay more attention on tax collections and ensure that the mounting tax dues were collected from the property owners.

He asked the revenue officials to get details of Aadhaar card and mobile phone number of property owners while serving demand notices to them so that they could update details of property owners and communicate with them based on the need to ensure prompt payment of taxes and tax dues. He asked them to collect acknowledgement from property owners after serving demand notices.

The municipal official appreciated the revenue wing for their efforts in collection taxes before the conclusion of financial year 2018-19 on March 31. Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation stood in fourth place in the state in quantum of tax collections made.
