Arrangements being made for counting

Kakinada: Necessary arrangements are being made for counting process to be taken up on 23 May for 3 Parliamentary and 19 Assembly constituencies in East Godavari district, said Kartikeya Mishra on Friday.

Addressing media on counting arrangements at collectorate , he said counting of votes for all these constituencies in the district will be taken up at counting centres located in JNTU- K, Rangaraya Medical College, Ideal college of Engineering, District Sports authority buildings and Nannaya University PG Centre in Kakinada.

The collector also said that 648 counting supervisors, 730 counting assistants, 709 micro observers, 2,100 supporting staff and 901 police personnel including reserve staff will discharge their duties. The collector said that necessary training has been given to counting staff at different levels and randomisation of counting staff will also be taken up before counting.

The collector said that three tier securities will be provided at all counting centres and each counting centre will be monitored by Deputy Superintendent of police level officer and both SPs of East Godavari and Rajamahendravaram Urban district will monitor along with other senior level police officers. Separate parking places for vehicles were also notified.

The collector said that the strongrooms will be opened at 7:30 am by the respective ROs in the presence of observers and contesting candidates or agents and the counting of votes will start at 8 am by counting postal ballots first.

Counting halls will be provided 10 to 14 counting tables depending on the actual rounds to be taken up and arrangements were being made to announce results round wise through Suvidha App designed by the Election Commission, the collector added.

With regard to counting of VVPATS, the collector said that they will be counted one by one and the declaration of results will be done by evening of 23 May in each of the constituencies.
