Maganti Murali Mohan named accused in Rs 2 crore cash seizure case

HYDERABAD: A day after Rs 2 crore cash was seized from two men near Hi-Tec City railway station, Cyberabad police have named Telugu Desam party (TDP) MP Maganti Murali Mohan as an accused in the case. Police said the MP and the other accused will be called for questioning as the two arrested accused said the cash was supposed to be handed over to Murali Mohan in Rajahmundry to distribute it among voters.

On Wednesday night, the Special Operations Team (SOT) sleuths and Madhapur police seized Rs 2 crore cash from N Sri Hari, 44, and A Pandari, 39, office assistants at Jayabheri Properties in Gachibowli, after they got down from an auto near Hi-Tec City railway station to board an MMTS train.

Cyberabad police commissioner V C Sajjanar said that during the questioning Sri Hari and Pandari confessed that the cash was given to them by Dharma Raju and Jagan Mohan Rao at Jayabheri Properties office in Gachibowli. “The two accused claimed Dharma Raju and Jagan Mohan Rao gave them the cash saying that Yelamanchili Murali Krishna of TDP will receive them at Rajahmundry railway station and take them to MP M Murali Mohan to whom the cash has to be handed over for distribution among voters in the Rajahmundry parliamentary constituency,” the commissioner said.
Murali Mohan’s daughter-in-law M Roopa Rammohan is contesting from Rajahmundry LS constituency as a TDP candidate.
Police have named six persons — Sri Hari, Pandari, Dharma Raju, Jagan Mohan, Murali Mohan and Y Murali Krishna— as accused in the case. Hari and Pandari have been arrested. “We will produce them before court,” ACP, Madhapur, N Shyam Prasad Rao said.
Police said searches would be conducted along with income tax officials at Jayabheri Properties office at Plot No.1, Jayabheri Enclave, Gachibowli. “There is no proof about the source of the cash. We will issue notices to the remaining accused to record their statements,” DCP, Madhapur A Venkateshwar Rao said.
