Rajahmundry commissioner plans to make city plastic free

Kakinada, Aug 13 (UNI) Plans are ready for making Rajahmundry city plastic free by eliminating usage of all plastic bags and materials that posed hazardous challenge to the environment, official sources said.

Municipal commissioner Sumit Kumar, who is keen on making the city plastic free, has issued a circular to all the business establishments, shops to stop usage of plastic bags with immediate effect.

In order to create awareness among the people a marathon walk was also organised.
Special task force comprising of officers from health, town planning and engineering wings would take up special drive and ensure strict implementation of ban on plastic bags use from the Independence day.

The Commissioner has advised the traders, consumers to go for silicon bags and cloth bags in lieu of plastic bags for daily usage.</span>
