Andhra Pradesh: Five ganja peddlers get 10-yr jail

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM : In a significant judgement, Ch Kishore Kumar, First Class Additional District Sessions Court Judge, Rajamahendravaram, sentenced five persons – Thota Apparao, Vasampuru Srikant alias Nagesh, Yalla Talupula Naidu, Kottem Raja and Kothem Nooka Raju – to 10 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs1 lakh fine on each one of them for illegal transportation of dry ganja.

Disclosing the details to the media, N Surjeet Singh, Superintendent, Prohibition and Excise Department, Rajamahendravaram, said that on April 4, 2016, K Prakash, Prohibition and Excise Inspector,  Rajamahendravaram  North, K Venkata Ramana, Sub-Inspector and their team seized a Scorpio vehicle while transporting 120 kg of ganja at Konthamuru and detained two persons.  During interrogation, the officials had learnt that another 112 kg of dry ganja was stored in a house in Adarsh Nagar. 

The officials immediately raided the house and detained three more persons who were packing dry ganja. 
The officials, in the presence of P Shankar Rao, VRO and K Raja Ramesh, VRA arrested all the five persons. P Seshaiah and M Malleshwara Rao, Assistant Public Prosecutors, argued the case on behalf of the government.

Case booked in 2016
The case was registered on April 4, 2016 after a Scorpio car was seized at Konthamuru and the accused were held for transporting the contraband
