Hyderabad: In a gut-wrenching incident, a bedridden woman was mercilessly beaten by her cousin. A video shows Mangadevi torturing the victim Pantam Pushpavati for allegedly refusing to will her property in her name has surfaced on social media platforms.
The tragic incident took place in Rajamahendravaram town of East Godavari district.
The video shows the accused beating the hapless woman with a stick. In fit of rage, she also banged Pushpavati’s head against the cot twice. The locals, however, rued that this is an everyday affair.

Ever since Pushpavati lost her husband and son, she took shelter with her cousin for the last few years. Mangadevi, on the other hand, extended her support to the victim with an intention of taking over her property, a house site, the locals informed.
Recently, Pushpavati suffered paralytic stroke that left her left hand and leg are paralysed.
A couple of months ago, Mangadevi and her family moved out from their old house to a new one in a housing board colony.

The neighbours every day noticed the torture meted out to Pushpavati. A youth in the neighborhood videographed the scene last week and circulated it on social media.
The two women were originally from Narendrapuram village in Rajanagaram block in East Godavari.
Nirbhaya Service Society, a local NGO, admitted Pushpavati to government hospital while Rajamahendravaram Police took Mangadevi into custody.
