Protesting TDP MPs Dragged Away From Modi’s Residence

The Special Category Status (SCS) fight has reached its pinnacle. The TDP MPs on Sunday (April 8) morning attempted to protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg and gherao the PM residence.

The protesting MPs, who were democratically doing protest, were detained on the way by the CRPF, Delhi Police who dragged them away ruthlessly. Emotions flared up due to this act. Already, the people of AP are of the opinion that the BJP is letting them down. The alleged hegemony of “North” over “South” has become a talking point among public.

“The prime minister is the person to take decisions on SCS. He has to fulfill his promises and that is why we want to raise our demands with him,” MP Jaydev Galla said. Another TDP MP Rammohan Naidu has condemned the act of the Centre to detain them and disrupt their “peaceful”, “democratic” protest. Rajahmundry TDP MP and actor Murali Mohan has silently continued his protest. Anantpaur TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy has come down heavily on Modi and lashed out at him for his high-handed nature.

The Telugu Desam Party withdrew its ministers in the union cabinet and walked out of the NDA after the BJP-led Centre denied special category status to Andhra Pradesh. The TDP had also issued no-confidence motion notices against the government.

However, it was never taken up for discussion due to continuous disruptions in the Parliament.
