Merger of surrounding villages with MCR soon, says MP

Stating that a few villages around the city would be merged with the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation very soon, M. Murali Mohan, MP, on Sunday said special focus would be put on developing infrastructure and amenities on the outskirts to ensure overall development and expansion of the city.

Along with MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, Mr. Murali Mohan unveiled the plaque marking the beginning of the work for widening of Balajipeta Main Road, the long pending project estimated to cost about Rs. 68 lakh.

The MP said though the road widening works were planned for the Godavari Pushkaralu, they got delayed as the contractor could not be finalised.

Temple relocation

“There is a need to relocate the goddess Kanaka Durga temple to facilitate the widening works and we are seeking support from the residents for the purpose. We are going to provide an alternative site to rebuild the temple,” he said, adding that central lighting would be provided once the widening works were over.

Mr. Buchaiah Chowdary said that a culvert and a retaining wall would be built as part of the widening works and the project would ease traffic congestion on the ever busy road.

“We have taken steps to complete the works at the earliest and we are happy that development works in the rural constituency are going on in a satisfactory manner,” he added.

MLA Adireddi Appa Rao, director of the Kapu Corporation Yerra Venugopal Naidu and others were present.
