BRAOU to restart PhD, MPhil courses

Hyderabad: Planning to pursue your PhD/MPhil from an open university? Here is a good opportunity. The Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University is planning to issue notifications for PhD and MPhil courses for the academic year 2018-19, that too after a gap of seven years. Due to new rules enforced by the University Grants Commission, the Open University had held back the notifications for several years. After complying with all the norms laid down by the UGC, the varsity administration has decided to issue the notifications.

Interestingly, for the first time, the university will enroll students in the PhD/MPhil programmes in the Science stream.

The university is offering PhD/MPhil in 16 streams including English, Hindi, Telugu, Business Management, Commerce, Education, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, History, Library and Information Science, Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology.

“The notification for admission into research programmes leading to MPhil/PhD will be released soon,” said Prof. K Seetharama Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University.

This apart, the university is planning to offer Computer Applications, Statistics and Geography subjects as new optionals for under-graduate students from the academic year 2018-19.

The varsity which was started with a modest strength of 6,321 and 26 study centres in 1983 now has 214 study centres across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with an annual strength of 1,68,929 students. Presently, the university is offering 38 programmes including UG, PG, PG Diplomas, Certificate, PhD and MPhil. The university runs exclusive study centres at Central Prison-Cherlapalli, Warangal, Rajahmundry, Nellore and Kadapa to cater to the educational needs of the inmates in both the States.


Coaching for IELTS/GRE

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Minorities Study Circle, Minorities Welfare Department has invited applications from eligible minority candidates for free coaching for the International English Language Testing System and Graduate Record Examinations.
