Passport Seva Kendra inaugurated in Rajahmundry

Rajahmundry: Rajahmundry MP M. Murali Mohan inaugurated the Passport Seva Kendra set up at head post office building here on Saturday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the MP said that the PSK would help those who intended to go to abroad for higher studies or for work to get passport early unlike the earlier practice of applying at passport office at Visakhapatnam and waiting for long time to get it. He said that the Rajahmundry airport at present is witnessing arrival/departure of as many as 10 aircraft a day and sounded confident that the number would go up to 15 shortly. He also said that they were taking up mega tourism projects at Pichuka Lanka and also on Havelock bridge across Godavari river to promote tourism in a big way.

Rajahmundry urban MLA Dr Akula Satyanarayana assured efforts to ensure delivery of passport in an expeditious manner at the PSK soon after submission of an application for the passport. Post master general K. Balasubramanyan said that as many as 164 PSKs were existing in the country and with the setting up the new one in Rajahmundry, the total number of PSKs had gone up to 165 in the country so far. He assured efforts to introduce several new services for the benefit of the people at the PSK soon.
