Samantha Akkineni to act in Tamil and Telugu remakes of ‘U-Turn’

Samantha Akkineni has finally started shooting for the Tamil and Telugu remake of Kannada paranormal thriller U-Turn, which will be directed by Pawan Kumar, who helmed the original.

She is currently shooting in the nearby areas of Anaparthi, Godavari. Some pictures and videos of her shooting there are out now. When the news broke that Samantha is shooting in the city, hundreds of fans thronged to the shooting spot to get a glimpse of the actress.

An overwhelmed Samantha captured it in a video and put the video up on her official Twitter handle. Samantha tweeted: “All the inspiration I need to be better. Thank you. U-Turn begins.” She also shared a video from the first day of the sets in Rajahmundry.

U-Turn revolves around the mystery behind the tragic deaths of motorists breaking traffic rules on a particular flyover in Bengaluru. In January 2017, Samantha watched the film in a special screening in Bengaluru and immediately gave her nod. At one point, it was rumoured that she was willing to produce the remake. However, ever since the announcement, there was no development with regard to the project for a long time. A few months ago, rumours made rounds that Nithya Menen was brought on board in place of Samantha and the project was supposed to go on the floors last year.

In November 2017, Pawan Kumar confirmed the project will roll from early 2018 last year. He had said that the regular shoot will commence in February 2018. Since Samantha is part of the project, a lot of time was taken to make the project really big. Aadi Pinisetty and Rahul Ravindran have been roped in to play pivotal roles. It’ll be a busy 2018 for Samantha whose first major release will be Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai. She also has Savitri biopic, Mahanati, apart from Vijay Sethupathi’s Super Deluxe and Sivakarthikeyan’s Seemaraja with Ponram.
