St. Paul’s, VP Siddhartha ace Young World quiz

The students of St. Paul’s High School, Huzurnagar, and VP Siddhartha Public School, Vijayawada, won the trophies at The Hindu Young World Quiz in the senior and junior categories respectively on Tuesday.

The event, part of the 18th edition of the longest running and largest live school quizzes, saw a participation of over 200 junior and senior students from over 40 schools in Krishna, East and West Godavari, Guntur, Khammam and Nalgonda districts under the Vijayawada region. The Quiz was hosted by The Hindu’s resident quizmaster V.V. Ramanan.

Three school teams each in the junior and senior categories made it to the top and bagged prizes.

P. Sai Manikanda and D. Vishnu Vardhan of St. Paul’s High School and P. Sai Pranav and D. Sri Vibbhav of VP Siddhartha Public School were presented with a cycle each, trophies and certificates for winning the quiz.

The first runners-up in the junior category are M.S. Vaishnav and P. Manideep Of St. Johns EMHS, Vijayawada, and second runners-up are T. Sreeramanuja and P. Harshit of NSM Public School, Vijayawada. Teams of TRIPS International School, Rajahmundry, VP Siddhartha Public School, Vijayawada, and St. Paul’s High School, Huzurnagar finished in fourth, fifth and sixth in the same category.

In the senior category, Sk. Firoz and N. Pavan of St. Xavier’s High School, Guntur, bagged second place and G. Kasyap Sai and K. Dheeraj of Sri Chaitanya International Olympiad School bagged third place. A teams of St. Paul’s High School and two teams of Bashyam Blooms, Guntur, finished in the fourth, fifth and sixth places. The runners-up were also given prizes, certificates and goodies.

VP Siddhartha Public School also bagged the Catalyst Award.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Gajarao Bhupal gave away the prizes to the winning teams.

Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the students to make a habit of reading newspapers like The Hindu that would help them gain knowledge. The officer also stressed the need for sports and games for schoolchildren.

The event was organised at Siddhartha Auditorium On the premises of PB Siddhartha College of Arts & Science. Eveready Industries Ltd, Area Sales Manager A. Dinakar Reddy and Arrow Publications, Assistant Manager P. Srikanth Reddy who sponsored the event on behalf of their organisations, and others were present.
