Awareness drives mark Voters’ Day

Rallies and meetings highlighting the importance of casting the vote marked the National Voters’ Day celebrations here on Thursday.

Collector Kartikeya Misra, SP Vishal Gunni and JNTUK Vice-Chancellor V.S.S. Kumar called upon the students to create awareness among the public about the importance of vote and its role in the democracy.

In Rajamahendravaram, Sub-Collector C.M. Saikantha Varma and urban SP B. Rajakumari asked people to exercise their voting right wisely.

Rally taken out

In Vizianagaram, district judge A. Giridhar Rao said receiving pecuniary gain in any manner to cast vote was a criminal offence. He, Collector Vivek Yadav and DRO Raj Kumar participated in an event at the M. R. College (Autonomous). Earlier, a rally was taken out. Students who won in 2K Run were given away prizes. Officials felicitated senior citizens on the occasion.

Democracy ratham

In Nellore, ‘Prajaswamya Ratham’ (Democracy Car) intended for an awareness campaign on the Right to Vote was flagged off by Collector R. Mutyala Raju. A rally was taken out and an awareness meeting was conducted at Kasturba Kalakshetra.
