‘Umeed 1000’ cyclothon to raise awareness on girl child education

Hyderabad: Umeed 1000, a cyclothon with a cause will have 15 corporate professionals from across the country cycling for ten days and covering 1000 kms to raise awareness on girl child education.

A CSR initiative of RBL Bank initiated in the year 2014, the cyclothon this year will be flagged off by Telangana State Director General of Police, M Mahender Reddy on Monday in Hyderabad and head for Visakhapatnam to cover 1,000 km. The rally starting from Hyderabad will cover Vijayawada and reach Visakhapatnam on December 15 touching Kurnool, Puttaparthi, Tirupati, Nellore, Ongole, Rajahmundry and Pitapuram, in between.

Jasmeet Singh Gandhi, a cycling enthusiast, who spearheaded this initiative, is a regular participant of the event. According to the organisers, Umeed 1000 seeks to raise funds for girld child education at Udbhav School, Hyderabad managed by IIMA Alumni Association Hyderabad Chapter Charitable Trust. The support partners for the cyclothon include Telangana Police and Andhra Pradesh Police.
