Students look at future career prospects

The Hindu EDGE Education Fair, a day-long event featuring stalls by South India’s leading deemed universities, was held at Sri Kasturi Devi Garden on the busy Trunk Road here on Sunday.

District In-charge Collector A.Md. Intiyaz inaugurated the event in the presence of the universities’ representatives, parents and their wards.

After lighting the lamp to mark the commencement of the fair, Mr. Intiyaz visited the stalls of the universities and enquired from their respective representatives about the courses and opportunities they were offering for the students coming from Andhra Pradesh.

Students arrived at the fair, accompanied by their parents and academic advisers. In their interactions, they sought clarifications to their doubts and concerns about the future prospects of different B.Tech and management courses they would like to join in the coming 2018-19 academic year.

The career-conscious students mostly sought information about the courses that would open up wide opportunities across the multi-national companies, government sector and also higher education and R&D.

Some students enquired about the emerging opportunities in the core engineering courses like ECE, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering when compared to the computer science and information technology courses which are currently in high demand.

The universities, which set up stalls in the fair, included SRM, Amrita, Vignan’s, VELS, Pratyusha, PSG and others. The SRM University was the platinum sponsor of the fair while Red FM was its radio partner and TV 5 television partner.

The Education Fair Caravan will move to Hotel Green Park in Visakhapatnam on December 9 and at Hotel Anand Regency in Rajamahendravaram and at Hotel Minerva Grand in Tirupati on December 10.
