Rajahmundry: A newborn girl was found abandoned at an uninhabited house at Nidadavole in West Godavari on Saturday. According to Nidadavole police, a baby girl with her umbilical cord still bleeding left placed on a gunny bag spared on the floor at the house. As the girl started crying, neighbours came to her rescue and alerted the police.
Police rushed there and shifted her to the government hospital at Nidadavole. She was given medical treatment and her health condition was alright. Later, the girl was handed over to the women and child welfare authorities who in turn shifted her to a child home to take care of her at Eluru. Police suspect that the girl might be an unwanted pregnancy and the mother abandoned the girl to avoid social stigma. Meanwhile, the police booked a case and investigation is on.
As part of investigation, the police are verifying CCTV footage at a suspected place where the girl was born to find out the identity of the person who carried the girl baby and left her at the house.
