Fissures surface in Telugu Desam in Rajahmundry unit

Rajahmundry: Fissures in Telugu Desam party came to the fore with mayor P. Rajani Sesha Sai and Godavari Urban Development Authority chairman Ganni Krishna crossing swords with regarding Kambala Tank Park. Speaking to newsmen here on Saturday, mayor P. Rajani Sesha Sai said that they were taking up developmental works in the entire city in a phased manner as it could be impossible to take all works at the same time. However, in an oblique reference to GUDA chairman Ganni Krishna who stated earlier that they would start development works of the park from November 27 onwards, she asked how GUDA was related to development of a park in the city.

She exhorted the TD leader as to how he could claim credit for taking up development of the park when it was the civic body which had to fund such works. When she was asked whether the park development works could be taken up by keeping the municipal corporation in dark, she retorted strongly by saying that how could anyone take up such works without involving the municipal corporation.

Referring to the misinformation campaign being taken up on resolutions passed by the municipal corporation Standing Committee for taking up developmental works by a section of leaders, mayor advised them not to do so and clarified that as they were having some doubts in the works initiated at a cost of Rs 5 crore. She sought more details from the concerned officials.

Explaining about developmental works in the city, Ms sai said that works worth about Rs 31 crore were taken up during the tenure of first standing committee followed by works worth of Rs 22.89 crore taken up during second standing committee and added that works worth Rs 35.89 crore were taken up during the third standing committee period.

She said that during the tenure of fourth standing committee, 31 works at a cost of Rs 5.15 crore were proposed and out of them, 20 works were given acceptance while proposals for 11 works were under consideration. The city mayor said that works related to development of parks and roads were being taken up at a brisk manner in addition to developing A.V. Appa Rao Road and Main Railway station road. She said that they were going to spend Rs 50 lakh to develop Kambala Tank Park. She said that the municipal corporation in the city was being developed on par with other corporations in the state.
