East Godavari district administration has been making elaborate arrangements for annual event- Kakinada Beach Festival at NTR beach, Vakalapudi near Kakinada.
Every year, this event is organised during Sankranti festival time in the month of January, whereas this year, it is tentatively scheduled for December 19 to December 21, keeping in view the examinations, the rush during festive season and for other reasons.
The proposed tourist amenities and infrastructure works are already going on under Swadeshi Darshan, at a cost of ₹45 crores.
A preliminary meeting was held at the Collectorate here on Thursday, to finalise the logo and discuss the proposed activities.
District Collector Kartikeya Misra elicited the opinion of various department officials on finalising the logo and making the festival a grand mela to attract people from various parts of the State.
Local talent
Organising music festivals involving stalwarts like AR Rahman,SP Balasubrahmanyam ,encouraging the local talents are also being planned for this event. Arrangements for organising Heli tourism, water sports, beach sports, food courts, Kadiyam nurseries, etc. were discussed.
The Collector suggested having various art forms of different States in the event.
A. Mallikarjuna, Joint Collector, Saikanth Varma, Sub-Collector, Rajamahendravaram, J. Radha Krishna Murthy, Joint Collector-2, M. Jithendra DRO, G.Bhimasankaram, Regional Director, AP Tourism, representatives of Whizcraft, event organizers and other district officers were present.
