APUGBC flayed for taking up works without informing RMC

Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai has taken exception to taking up of development of Kambala tank park by AP Urban Greenery and Beautification Corporation (APUGBC) without informing Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC).

Addressing the media here on Saturday, she said officials of APUGBC who visited Kambala tank have not met her or the Commissioner regarding beautification of tank and they were not aware of launching of works on Nov. 27. “I will see how the works will be started without the knowledge of Mayor or the Commissioner,” she said while reacting to media reports that the APUGBC officials have met GUDA Chairman Ganni Krishna and finalised the date for starting the works.

Replying to a question, she said she was facing hurdles from officials as well as party functionaries in delivering the goods to citizens of Rajamahendravaram.

She recalled that the MCR got appreciation from the Chief Minister immediately after Godavari Pushkarams in 2014, particularly in the areas of sanitation, water and lighting.

Reacting to remarks on functioning of the standing committees, the Mayor said without standing committees there is no development in the city and listed different works approved by the committee in the last four years. She said the first standing committee in 2014 approved Rs. 31.71 crore works, second committee Rs. 22.89 crore works, third committee approved Rs. 35.82 works and the present committee approved Rs. 5.15 crore works till now.
