Well done KCR, shame on you Naidu!

The decision of the Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to make Telugu as a compulsory subject in the curriculum from primary school to intermediate education has received wide appreciation from all quarters.

While Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu has already complimented KCR for taking such a revolutionary decision, former MP and Central Hindi Committee member Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad described it as a land mark decision.

Thanking the Telangana chief minister, Yarlagadda said more heartening was the decision of the Telangana government to strictly implement the rule of writing all name plates, sign boards and other official banners compulsorily in Telugu.

At the same time, Yarlagadda said he was ashamed of the Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh for ignoring Telugu, which was the spirit of Andhra Pradesh.

“Even now, all the foundation stones laid by Naidu are in English. The official correspondence is still going on in English with Telugu completely sidelined.

It is shameless on the part of the Naidu government for ignoring the earlier orders issued by the previous governments on the implementation of the Telugu official language,” he said.

He lashed out at Naidu for ignoring his own promise to set up Telugu university at Rajahmundry.

“There are only three courses in Telugu in the Telugu university branch in Rajahmundry, whereas the one in Hyderabad has 16 such courses.

It shows the difference between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments on the implementation of Telugu language,” Yarlagadda said.
