Municipal Commissioner of Rajamahendravaram (MCR) V. Vijayaramaraju on Saturday announced that Ganesh idols made with plaster of Paris (PoP) will be fined during the immersion which is going to be held on September 2, 3 and 4. Reviewing the arrangements being made for immersion here, Mr. Raju who is also in-charge Sub-Collector, said that corporation officials should stop each PoP idol at Godavari bunds at Markandeya Swami temple, sand ramp and other places. He asked officials of various departments to coordinate in conducting immersion in a peaceful manner. Mr. Vijayaramaraju asked the Irrigation Department officials to arrange two speed boats and two country boats.
He said all the idols above 15 ft should be immersed in Katheru area and other 1,300 idols within the city can be immersed in sand ramp area near Kumari Talkies and Markandeya Swami temple ghat. He asked the officials to arrange cranes to lift and also appealed to organisers to take permission for immersion.
Mr. Vijayaramaraju said that a control room would be set up to monitor immersion from the municipal corporation office and added that they would also use drone cameras. He said that they would not permit immersion at Gouthami, Kotilingala and Saraswathi Ghats.
