Laddoos are of great importance in the twin states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

Worshippers in these two southern states believe that laddoos, which are said to be a favourite with Ganesha, bring luck and prosperity.

Laddoos offered to Ganesha at some of the most popular pandals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are auctioned during Ganesh Chaturthi and fetch lakhs of rupees from worshippers.

This year, a famous sweet-maker from Rajamahendravaram city of Andhra Pradesh has offered a laddoo weighing 500 kg to the 12-foot Ganesha idol installed by Film Nagar Daiva Sannidhanam in Hyderabad.

The Balapur Ganesh idol has been offered two laddoos weighing 21 kg each which will be auctioned at the end of the festival. Last year, a Balapur Ganesh laddoo fetched Rs 14.65 lakh.

Beyond laddoos, a Ganesha idol in Nagulapada village in Guntur district has been decorated with new Rs 2,000 currency notes. The pandal too has been decorated with Rs 2,000 currency notes. The decoration reportedly cost the organisers an estimated Rs 6.6 crore.
