Special Deputy Collector in ACB Trap

The ACB sleuths on Tuesday caught a Special Deputy Collector (SDC) and a senior assistant in the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Land Acquisition Office, Kovvuru, and Rajamahendravaram Sub-Collector’s office, Rajamahendravram, respectively on corruption charges.
Gopalakrishna, DSP, ACB, Eluru, said Butchiraju, a tribal, complained that Special Deputy Collector Pushpamma had demanded Rs. 1 lakh each for 5 acres from his mother-in-law Veeramma for compensation of Rs. 52 lakh.
On Tuesday, he approached the ACB officials before paying the bribe to Ms. Pushpamma and went to the Special Deputy Collector’s office.
The SDC reportedly asked him to hand over the money to her agent-cum-senior assistant M.V.R. Prasad working in the Rajamahendravaram Sub-Collector’s office. When Butchiraju handed over the money to Prasad, the ACB officials caught the latter.
Mr. Gopalakrishna said they would collect digital evidence like phone conversation between Ms. Pushpamma and Mr. Prasad and also with Mr. Butchiraju and other evidence and proceed against the SDC and the senior assistant.
