Ganja seized

Rajamahendravaram  Urban Police seized 2,150 kg of ganja worth Rs. 1.10 crore which was being transported in an oil tanker via Rajamahendravaram from Visakhapatnam to Maharashtra on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, Bommuru Inspector P. Kanaka Raju and AGS party Sub-Inspector R. Sivaji intercepted an oil tanker coming from Vizag side on the National Highway at Diwancheruvu of Rajanagaram mandal.
The police found 76 bags of ganja inside the oil tanker. The police have arrested Gummalla Pydi Babu of Vepagunta village of Visakhapatnam district along with lorry driver Kasireddy Varaha Narasimhamurthy and cleaner J. Prabhu.
Speaking to reporters, Urban SP B. Raja Kumari said that the accused have told the police that they were taking ganja to hand over to one Samir of Sangli town in Maharashtra. She mentioned that the arrested persons will be produced before court. She congratulated Bommuru CI, AGS SI and their staff for the seizure.
