ONGC promotes values among students

Rajamahendravaram: For promoting integrity and ethics among youth and curb corruption in public life, ONGC Rajahmundry, as per the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission is conducting various competitions for college and school students of Rajahmundry town. Senior officials of ONGC have been visiting schools and colleges to inspire them on promoting integrity and need to strive for graft-free society. 

As part of the initiative, it has conducted competitions in elocution, essay writing in Hindi, English and Telugu for the city colleges and schools, including Rajiv Gandhi Educational institutions, Rajahmahendri Degree College for Women, KV School and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The results of these competitions will be announced on Friday and the prizes will be distributed to the winners on Saturday by Debasis Sanyal, Executive Director-Asset Manager Rajahmundry Asset. 

Earlier, in the week ,a talk was delivered by former Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (Tamilnadu) C L Ramakrishnan, IPS (Retd) on vigilance and anti-corruption. Ramakrishnan  clarified that vigilance is not about persecution nor prosecution, but preventive mechanism for developing organisation as well as society. Referring to the theme of the year, he said a society ithout corruption is possible only when the people want it and work for it as they fought for their freedom from Britishers.  

Later, he underlined that protecting ONGC which is a national asset and it has to be protected by the employees and the citizens of the country by actively participating in preventing corruption campaign. Touching upon the significance of Vigilance Awareness Week, former IPS officer said that it reiterate the values of the vigilance and renew our thoughts on the subject for fortifying our professional lives and organisations.
