Nellore: Senior Congress leader Anam Vivekananda Reddy on Sunday strongly criticised Nellore Mayor Abdul Azeez for neglecting the problems of the poor.At a press conference in the party office here, he accused Azeez of duping banks and changing parties, joining the Telugu Desam, within a month of getting elected as Mayor, allegedly aided by an MLA of YSRCP.

Anam alleged that the Mayor was exerting pressure on the Municipal Commissioner to get sanction of bills totalling Rs 40 lakh without doing any development works. For this Azeez was resorting to ‘bogus’ hunger strike. The Congress leader alleged that the Mayor was resorting to ‘political prostitution’ and backing communal elements with a view to securing the BJP support.
He charged Azeez with causing injustice to the minorities. Anam contended that the Mayor had no right to criticise him. Corporator Anam Rangamayur Reddy and Kethamreddy Vinod Kumar of the Youth Congress, among others, were present.
