Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has invited President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries, including Sringeri Peetadhipathi, for the Godavari Pushkarams.
Letters in this regard have already been sent to the President and the Prime Minister. Mr. Naidu has also decided to meet them to extend personal invitations.
A delegation led by Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao will visit Sringeri and formally invite the Peetadhipathi and other religious heads.
The Chief Minister has also requested the Centre to announce Pushkarams as a national festival.
At a review meeting here on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu directed officials to complete beautification of villages on a war footing and wanted the development of Saraswathi Ghat, four-lane airport highway construction and Gammon Bridge work to be expedited. Officials told the Chief Minister that the logo for the event would be finalised by April 10. A website on the Pushkarams has also launched.
Endowments Minister Manikyala Rao, Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, Chief Advisor (Communications) to the State government Parakala Prabhakar and Endowments Principal Secretary J.S.V. Prasad were among those who attended the meeting.
